FOAF Galway - Invitation

Quadrangle, NUI Galway

Welcome

Ceád míle fáilte - one hundred thousand welcomes - to Galway and the 1st Workshop on Friend of a Friend, Social Networking and the (Semantic) Web, sponsored by SWAD-Europe and DERI. This workshop combines the old and the new: the historical city of Galway plays host to scientists and researchers from industry and academia to discuss future developments for FOAF, social networks and the semantic web. The workshop will be held from 1st-2nd September 2004.

The workshop will be based on the campus of National University of Ireland, Galway, which was founded in 1845. Christopher Columbus visited the city in 1477, fifteen years before he discovered America. The modern campus boasts excellent conference facilities on the banks of the River Corrib. The campus is a short walk from a bustling downtown area. Galway is a thriving city renowned for its friendliness and young population. The strategic location of the city on the west coast gives visitors easy access to the surrounding beauty spots such as Connemara and the Burren.

Talks and registration will be held in the Arts Millennium building (shown on the right). You can find out how to get to NUI Galway and the building in the travel section.

You are welcome to present at the workshop by submitting a paper under the current call for papers, or you can just attend and register for the workshop.
