My PhD thesis work is centred around SWSE, the Semantic Web Search Engine. I plan to finish my degree in early 2008, so stay tuned for more publications and the final thesis document.
My general research interest is the Semantic Web, especially large-scale interoperation between information sources on the Web. Self-organization in networks is on my list of things to explore, as are machine learning methods on graph-based data. I would like to think a bit more about semantics in the context of social systems.
I work at Digital Enterprise Research Institute and pursue a PhD at National University Ireland, Galway with Stefan Decker. I'm part of DERI's Semantic Web Cluster. I received a Diplom (nearby equivalent of U.S.-style M.Sc.) in informatics from Fachhochschule Würzburg in Germany. I did internships at Fraunhofer Institute für Silicatforschung in Würzburg and at IBM's Silicon Valley Lab in San Jose, California. My Diplom thesis was carried out in collaboration with Centro Politécnico Superior at Universidad de Zaragoza, Spain. I worked as visiting research assistant at University of Southern California's Information Sciences Institute in Marina del Rey, California.

We've got some press coverage (my 15 minutes of fame) out of a recent breakthrough in terms of scalability for Semantic Web data - the ability to process, store, and retrieve billions of RDF statements on a cluster of commodity hardware machines.
